Work in progress sketch

Since I'm going to be out of town for the next week or so,  I've decided to post a work in progress sketch of what I've been working on.  I'll hopefully be able to go further once I get back from NY, but it all depends on how my Intuos is doing.  I'll probably be upgrading to a Cintiq sooner than I planned...

Over all I'm pretty satisfied with Psyche's pose, but Cupid is more problematic...  How does one sleep with great big wings on their back?

Cupid and Psyche Sketches

It's been a busy couple of weeks with lots of graduations, family leaving on trips, and not getting time to do as much art work/animating as I wanted.  The next few weeks look just as busy as well, but I'll try and get some stuff up here, even if it's just really rough bad digital sketches.

I worked on these story sketches last weekend and they were supposed to go up last Sunday, but I didn't get a chance to upload them onto my photobucket.  The images are ideas for different parts of the Cupid and Psyche story.  I'm going to try and take some of these to full color, but I'm not sure when I'll be able to get them up here.  If anyone has a preference let me know as I may put them up on Redbubble or Society 6.

I'm going to try and get something up next weekend, but I'm going to New York in a couple of weeks and am trying to get everything done for the trip.

"In Waiting" update

I said last week (just looked and it was my 50th and broke 1000 page views) that I'd try and get an update of my short film up here this week, so here it is!

I still have about 13-14 shots to animate before I'll be finished with the rough animation.  I'll leave it as rough animation for the most part once it's finished.  I might go back in and clean it up later.

I've started saving up for a Cintiq, so once I save up enough we'll see if I have an easier time getting polished work up on here.  I love my current tablet (it's survived almost 10 years of abuse), but drawing on it is so much more difficult than drawing directly on a screen.

Some finished monster girls

I've been super busy this month and so haven't had time for updates.  Even this one is going to be a quickie.  I've been working my way through the monster girl challenge on Tumblr.  I'm taking my sketches and cleaning and coloring them so it's taking longer than the girl a day.

Day 2 was Centaur.  I didn't like my first version, so I've redone that entry.

Day 3 was Slime.

I'm going to try to get another work in progress update on my short film up next week.  I've got about 15 shots left in it so I'm getting close to the end of the rough animation.

Yosemite!

I spent the last few days out in the fresh air of Yosemite with my family.  We had no internet or cell service most of the time, so it was a break from the rest of the world.  I did some hiking, taking pictures, even doing a bit of watercolor.    Generally doing healthier activities than I do at home, so now that I'm home again I've managed to bring back the beginnings of a cold.  Oh well!

Here are some of the watercolors I did.  I was mostly playing around with it, but the people who stopped to watch seemed to like them.

   

 I also took a lot of photos and videos.  Here are a bunch in no particular order.

These two are cool.  They're the same picture, but the focus is different.  It completely changes the mood.

Have some sketches and storyboards

I'm still trying to figure out digital landscape painting which also means practicing perspective.  I'm using Cupid and Psyche to work on pre-production skills, so did some sketches of key scenes. 

Here's a sketch of Psyche sneaking up on a sleeping Cupid.

Here's another one from just a few moments later in the shot where he leaves her.

Both sketches need more work before I can go in further, but they get what I want across so they're alright.

I also have some storyboards of the opening of the film.  There will be narration over it, but I'm still working out what it will be exactly. 

I now have to figure out how I'm going to get the next boards to explain what I want to happen next, which means research time.
